dc.description.abstract This research was about how clothing has defined people’s style and fashion in Wakiso District in Nansana village. The aim of clothing in defining peoples style and fashion was to investigate about the materials that were used to produce these cloths for example; Kitenge, barkcloth , Gomensi , batik and the Kente cloth and to also asses the reasons as to why theses cloths were produced around Nansana. . The importance of clothing in defining people’s style and fashion was to find out how different cloths around Nansana are popular and famous since 1990s. The research was discussed basing on how the study was carried out. This was done through; data collection methods, instruments, data processing and data analysis. Both qualitative and quantitative analysis was used. The researcher used two techniques that were purposive and simple random sampling. The research was carried out in Nansana and in this study a total of 40 respondents were interviewed. The researcher also used primary data sources and revealed on a few secondary data. The research was also based on the uses of Kitenge ways of dressing for example ; office wear , casual wear etc. and also involved the materials and tools that were used for example ; cotton , nylon, furs , ramie , sewing machines , looms etc. The researcher interviewed 60 respondents comprising of 40 first and second year students of CEDAT and some students of COBAMS and 20 comprising of the local population fashionista’s of Nansana village in Wakiso District. The researcher therefore personally carried out the interview and handed out the questionnaires. en_US
