dc.description.abstract The Kampala Central division is one of the five divisions that make up the greater Kampala district and is the main business areas of all the five hence having greater development including having a larger percentage of underground drainage systems that are used to convey waste and storm water to the designated areas, the Kampala Central division areas still faces drainage problems such as floods and others problems experienced just like the other division. Many of problems including flooding, diseases and others have been closely linked to the poor drainage management mainly underground drainage infrastructure; of which have had improvements made to but issues still remain and some of these have be linked to poor maintenance of these infrastructures, including the methods and practices adopted in doing maintenance that are not efficient enough or also contribute to future failure of these underground drainage infrastructures. Therefore this research is intended to investigate the maintenance method practices and technologies used that have contributed or led to the continuous failure of these underground drainage infrastructures that later in-turn cause problems that affect the people around and other built infrastructures around en_US
