dcterms.abstract This research study conducted was about creating awareness of Sickle Cell Disease among the youth of Uganda. The main objective of study was to avail production of Infographics that will effectively sensitise the youth about the existence of Sickle Cell Disease. The study explored highlighted objectives; to identify how art has been interconnecting with the Sickle Cell condition in regards to creating awareness among the youth, to compile data concerning the health complications associated with the disease and to find out how Sickle Cell Disease patients, with the help of their care takers manage and treat the respective health issues. The study derived inspiration from persons living with Sickle Cell disease; warriors the researcher has interacted with. The study argues that health advocacy or awareness could be made more effective, in terms of communication using infographics for they are designed in such a way that permits precise, clear and attractive; eye catching format of presentation of information. The study demonstrated both qualitative primary and secondary data was collected during research. It was carried out using research design and sample size. The survey population comprised of youth living with Sickle Cell disease, a health specialist and an expert at graphics design. The researcher recommended that graphical works for advocacy or awareness should be designed in a more effective and precise manner in order to get to the public in the shortest time and avail easier interpretation which infographics are very much capable of achieving. The study contributes to the health sector, the youth living with SCD as well as their care takers and not to forget, the design world.
