dc.description.abstract A ceramic is an inorganic, non-metallic, solid material comprising metal, on-metal or metalloid atoms primarily held in ionic and covalent bonds. The study’s major objective is to assess the reasons as to why some ceramic techniques are not often applied especially in the department of design and why it has narrowed down to pottery. Recommendations are based on the information provided by ceramics students and lecturers, Qualitative data was obtained from various people doing ceramics at MSTIFA. The data collection method used included the use of the questionnaire, in depth interviews with students and lecturers. The terms of findings, the major challenges faced by ceramics students at MSTIFA. And how they play a role in production of poor ceramic production. Finally, the study recommended that students should find all possible means to improve their works and also explore other ceramic techniques. en_US
