dc.description.abstract The study investigated the role of neighborhood centers in fostering a sense of place in Kamwokya II. It was broken down into four objectives; identifying and characterizing the neighborhood centers within Kamwokya II, analyzing how the neighborhood centers foster a sense of place within Kamwokya II, analyzing the challenges faced by neighborhood centers in delivering their function, and the measures that can enable neighborhood centers deliver their function The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods which were administered through questionnaires. The sample size used comprised 60 respondents which included the local residents, business owners, and local leaders of Kamwokya II. Selective, voluntary, and random sampling was used. Secondary data was obtained from library materials, internet, and journals. The field findings revealed that most of the people in in Kamwokya II engage in different activities that take place in these neighborhood centers that therefore contribute to their sense of place. However there are challenges that hinder people’s engagement with the neighborhood centers in Kamwokya II such as insecurity, limited community engagement, and improper waste management. This research concludes that there is a need for an effective waste management, system, adequate funding and resource allocation. Community engagement.   en_US
