dc.description.abstract Construction waste management is a very important aspect since it helps in protecting the environment from negative environmental impacts, such as accidents, pollution, and reduces areas for productive activities, such as farmland. The research explored the different types of construction waste generated, the practices used to manage the construction waste, the barriers hindering the implementation of the practices, and the proposed strategies to improve the implementation of construction waste management practices on public road projects in Kampala. Data was collected from 47 professionals using survey questionnaires and through observation using checklists, whereby 6 ongoing road construction projects were visited within Kampala. This report is made up of different chapters that include an introduction, literature review, methodology, the findings chapter, and also recommendations which were given to help in identifying existing gaps in the construction waste management practices on road construction projects. The findings showed that most of the professionals knew about the construction waste management practices carried out on public road projects, and that they are implemented on different road projects within Kampala, however, there were still barriers such as high costs, weak regulatory frameworks, limited recycling markets that hinder the implementation of these practices. The study also revealed some of the strategies that were proposed by respondents to improve the implementation of construction waste management on public road projects in Kampala, which included continuous implementation of the 3Rs, increasing awareness, and strengthening the regulatory framework, as some of the major strategies stated. en_US
