Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the factors influencing expenditure behaviors of university students. These factors comprise of demographic characteristics, social status characteristics and financial knowledge of the students. Data (N=536) was collected from the university students age 18 and above from the college of School of Statistics and Planning. Results from means of comparisons showed significant relationship between spending behavior and the demographic factors of gender and age, there were also significant relationships between social status factors and spending behavior. However, there was no significant relationship between financial knowledge and spending behavior of students. In addition, the regression analysis model was not a good fit.
