dc.description.abstract “Whatever the cost of our libraries, the price is cheap compared to that of an ignorant nation.” -Walter Cronkite The aim of this research is to come up with recommendations that can inform the effective design of public libraries to meet the needs of their users. Public libraries are especially important as they play the role of being a source of quality information for everyone. Currently, Kampala’s public libraries are not being used as much as they should. This study argues that public libraries can be more than just storehouses for books and can have an impact on the Ugandan learning culture as a whole. It is hoped that this study will offer a basis for the design and possible adaptation of public libraries to effectively meet the needs of their users. en_US
