Temperature control refers to the process aimed at maintaining the temperature of an object, substance at a certain maximum or minimum temperature value or certain range of temperatures. A system which affects this process is called a temperature control system. This process is commonly used in most applications and this project aims at temperature control in brooders. This project aims at designing a system to control temperatures in the brooder automatically. Proteus 8.0 software was used for authentication of the hardware design of the temperature management system. The system’s hardware comprises of power supply unit, control unit, and keypad, temperature sensing unit, display unit, switching unit, heating unit, cooling unit. This digital temperature control system uses a microcontroller as the heart of the system. The microcontroller makes decisions basing on the value of temperature received from the temperature sensor. If the temperature in the brooder is below the threshold, then the heating element (bulb) is switched on, when it is above the threshold, then the heating element is switched off and the the cooling element is switched on. At the point when the threshold temperature value is equal to temperature in the brooder, both the heating element and cooling element are switched off.
