Fabrication of a low cost resistivity apparatus
Abstract
Resistivity profiling is a technique designed to study lateral variations in resistivity whereas resistivity sounding is a technique designed to study vertical variations in resistivity (Anatja , Cousin, Tabbagaph, Ary, & Guy, 2005). While resistivity equipment do exist for resistivity measurements, they are expensive and not affordable by ordinary geophysicists in Uganda. Therefore in this study, a low cost equipment/ apparatus for resistivity studies was designed using Wenner method. The apparatus was improvised for resistivity studies in the laboratory and in a small survey area outside physics department of Makerere University. The apparatus addresses the problem of lack of affordable resistivity apparatus for both ordinary geophysicists and also for study purposes in Physics.
