dc.description.abstractThis study was carried out to investigate the assessment of the effects of single parenthood on children in Mafubira A Zone. The discussions of this chapter are based on the findings and the interpretation of these results during the study. The study was centered on the assessment of the effects of single parenthood on children in Mafubira A Zone. It covered a sample covered a sample of 101 respondents and these included; 52 single mothers, 32 single parents and 10 children. These were selected by use of simple random and purposive sampling techniques. These were selected by use of simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques. Basically, questions were designed for all the categories of respondents who were local leaders and banana small scale farmers to generate depth information. The study also focused on the main three objectives designed; the factors that contributes to the increasing rate of single parenthood in Mafubira A Zone, the effects of social socio-economic status of single parents on the wellbeing of children in Mafubira A Zone and the solution to curb down the effects of single parenthood on children in Mafubira A Zone. Both qualitative and qualitative methods of data collection were used. The study findings indicated that single parenthood has devastating effects on women, men and children as well. This is due to the fact that it leads to abject poverty, failure to provide basic necessities of life, emotional issues, resentment and sense of inferiority complex. On the other hand the study also indicated divorce, death, people who are not married and men who have more than one wife as the factors that contribute to the single parenthood on children in Mafubira A Zone. However, income generating activities, counseling services, seeking job opportunities and single parents being open to children were suggested by the respondents as the remedies to curb down the effects of single parenthood on children in Mafubira A Zone, Jinja District.en_US
