The chloride determination in cement plant alternative fuels (AFs) is an essential activity that helps keep the cement quality in the target and of standard. The alternative fuels may include Coffee husks, rice husks, Gnut husks, palm kernels and saw dust. In this study, two methods were used to determine the percentage chloride content in the AFs. The two methods were compared to the existing method of using a bomb Calorimeter. The two methods included the Volhard method and the potentiometric method. Results showed that the Volhard method had limitations of time consuming and inaccuracies due to similar color changes of the filtrate before titration and the endpoint and was therefore ruled out. The potentiometric metric method was found to be suitable for the chloride determination since its deviation from the calorimetric method was less significant.en_US
