dc.description.abstractThe construction industry is one of the most important industries in Uganda, despite being affected by cost overruns on most construction projects in Uganda. This has affected the construction industry, thereby calling for a study about the causes of cost overruns. There fore, the research was aimed at studying about the Impact of Cost Control Techniques on Cost Overruns of Construction projects in Uganda mainly targeting Contractor members of Uganda National Association of Building Contractors and Civil Engineers (UNABCEC) within Kampala. Keeping in mind the objectives of the study ; that were achieved through questionnaire approach, from the different contracting companies in Uganda, the researcher also based on existing literature from which similar studies have been carriedout. The research introduces to the reader, the effectiveness of various cost control techniques on cost overruns of construction projects in Uganda, pointing out Project change control, Effective communication and Effective time management. Also, the research specifies Lack of project management during execution, Unplanned costs and Design errors as the most causes of cost overruns. However, the study encountered limitations such as construction activities scope that is geographical and study scopes.en_US
