Abstract
The study explored the analysis of Jopadhola riddles based on language and metaphor. The research further looked at the role Jopadhola language plays in the interpretation of metaphors in Jopadhola riddles. The riddles possess metaphors hidden in them. Riddles can either be opaque, semi opaque or transparent. I will talk about the semi opaque which can be interpreted in the following ways; The respondent gets minimal clues from some words in the riddle question hence creating need to add in more words for easy interpretation. Next is the opaque riddle category where one has to learn it by heart, no idea comes from the riddle question and lastly is the transparent category where a respondent has very many clues got from the riddle question which makes them easy to answer.
