This report presents a comparative analysis of the unmet need and total demand for family planning among women of the reproductive age group in Uganda for the years 1995 and 2016. The main objective of the study is to establish whether or not there exists a difference between the unmet need and the demand for family planning among all women in the years 1995 and 2016. The study uses Secondary data. Data is taken from the Uganda Demographic and Health Surveys (UDHS) conducted in; 1995 and 2016. The nationally representative DHS surveys collect information from women of reproductive age (age 15-49). The proportion of all women with total demand for family planning and total demand satisfied by modern methods is significantly different in the two years; it is higher in 2016 than in 1995. On the contrary, the proportion of women with unmet need for family planning is not significantly different in the two years; there is not a significant difference between the proportion of women with unmet need in 1995 and in 2016. There’s still need for sensitization of the masses especially to younger people in the presence of both sexual partners about the advantages of taking up contraceptive use and correcting misconceptions of contraceptive use as a result of myths, religion and other sources of misinformation.en_US
