Housing conditions therefore includes the physical conditions of the houses in which one lives, the type of dwelling, house tenure, surrounding environment and the availability of amenities and services. Quality of life is therefore measured by self-reported access to services, health of the people, safety, and social support among others. The study therefore shows a small, but significant positive relationship between housing conditions and quality of life. This enlightens the issue of considering housing conditions as a social and economic indicator of urban poverty.
