Education is an integral sector in the development of our country and the world. In the early stages of education in Uganda, it is mainly the teachers and parents that guide the learners on what to do. This works for the pre-primary and primary stages. As the scholars progress, they get intrigued with the kind of professions they would like to take on in future especially at the Ordinary Level of their secondary education where they are required to select certain subjects. At this level, it is challenging to a certain extent because the student may not be well guided since the parent may not be conversant with the requirements for a given profession and the teachers don’t give much of their time to career-guidance. It even gets worse when it comes to choosing a subject combination at A-Level that would lead the student to the right course at the university for her favorite profession. And later on getting the equitable course for the career one desires to take on. All this is driven by the insufficiency of the right information regarding career guidance to the scholars in their academic itinerary. We therefore found it necessary to develop a centralized career information system that recommends subjects, courses and indicates different requirements for a given career at the different levels of education. This system will help students in making informed decisions as they work towards their dream careers.en_US
