This study examines the meanings emerging from the word choices in different selected Luganda proverbs. Using primary and secondary data cited from different sources, the study suggests a number of Luganda proverbs translated to English grouped under different themes or capacities of parenthood and responsibility, hardworking, patience and persistence, knowledge and wisdom, respect, authority and many others. The above selected proverbs through word choice help in the development of meaning due to the selected words/word choice which in turn suggest language development, lessons and also rebuke vices in society, hence leading to their continuity and preservation. However, due to that, recommendations on how language can be developed through word choice as well as being preserved were made and ways of implementing them were improvised.en_US
