The automotive industry in Uganda is growing steadily, and by 2025 most of the vehicles in Uganda will be home made and at least 10% of the vehicles made in Uganda will be electric, therefore high efficiency and efficient battery monitoring and control systems are needed to ensure the safety and reliability of electric vehicles. In this project, a smart monitoring and control system was designed and implemented to monitor and control key parameters like battery voltage, current and temperature of electric vehicles during charging. The system then determines the battery State of Charge, State of health and remotely monitors and control electric vehicle charging in real time through information exchange between the system and an android mobile application. This System uses sensor-based technology to detect voltages of up to 300V and 20A charging current. The data is processed by a microcontroller in less than 5 seconds and then relayed to a mobile application. A detailed systems requirements specification and architecture was done. The system was then designed and implemented by developing a mobile application and integrating hardware components which were later deployed and tested in a test vehicle.en_US
