| dc.description.abstract | The research is basically aimed at finding out the effectiveness of Namirembe NMT. The researcher first identified the methods of data collection to be used, both qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis are considered. The research employed various research methods like observation, interviewing, photography and case studies. From the research conducted with the guide of the objectives of the study, significance of the NMT was identified which include; reduction of greenhouse emission and pollution, healthy lifestyle, increased road safety and improved accessibility. The research also highlights statistics that males embrace the of use NMT than the females, most people move along the road to carryout business while others work along the NMT as officials, traders in the malls and arcades. Statistics also show that people along the NMT are of the age group of 31 to 40 being the highest percentage followed by the age group between the ages of 21 to 30. While the challenges along the NMT are also scooped out for example road user’s incompliance with the traffic rules and regulations, theft of bicycles, small and narrow roads, cycle lanes are being misused by boda boda riders, poor mindset and street vendors. Also recommendations and conclusions are drawn to wrap up the research which include; Widening of walkways along Bakuli (Berkley) to accommodate the pedestrian traffic, introduction of speed humps and more speed tables, road safety signs and repainting of the fading pedestrian crossing markings on all road intersections, massive public awareness campaigns and education about NMT infrastructure planning, construction and use, strict enforcement of the law by implementing authorities, installation and demarcation of street
