The study aimed at investigating the effect of parental involvement on students’ academic performance among university students’ among the School of Statistics and Planning students with specific the objective like to examine the extent to which parents get involved in the choice of course of university students. A sample of 150 students was selected and google forms where designed to collect the data, which was later exported to excel than STATA for analysis. Chi-square tests and ordered logistic regression were used to analyze the association of the different parental factors. Summary results showed that that majority of the respondents were BSTA students, most staying in hostels and most of them had a CGPA of second class upper followed by lower. Results indicated that was no parental factor that was significantly influencing students’ performance since there values > p0.05 level of significance. They further indicated that only the students’ year of study had a significant association with student academic performance since the p.0001(OR=2.21). The study concluded that there was generally a better performance of students at SSP since majority lied in the second class degree level. The study further concluded that there was a lot of parental involvement in decision making for students such as providing learning materials, requirements etc. The study recommended that parents should focus to visiting their children at university to give them more guidance and hope and also parents should stop engaging in making choices for the students. Lastly, further research should be carried out to investigate the difference in performance of students among the various courses at SSP.en_US
