dc.description.abstract | In this study, a load shedding information dissemination system was developed for the citizens within Makerere to enable them easily access load shedding information. This is because there is inefficiency in load shedding information dissemination channels to citizens of Uganda within Makerere. This caused various challenges like power outrage and unreliable power supply due to the increased number of investments and consumer demand thus has affected the households, institutions and the increased investments within Makerere. The study used both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data was collected using interviews and questionnaire methods and tools like self-administered questionnaires and interview guides, which were used for data collecting collected data from 25 respondents.
The researcher collected both primary and secondary data, which was analyzed using excel spreadsheets and the user requirements were determined. The system was designed using data flow diagrams (DFDs) and enhanced entity relationship diagrams (ERDs). The system was developed using technologies such as Bootstrap, CSS, HTML, JavaScript and MySQL among others. The system was tested and validated. The findings of the study are a great significance to researchers and Ugandans. The study recommends that a centralized load shedding information dissemination system with and offline version and push notifications should be implemented in future for wider remote accessibility of load shedding information | en_US |
