Peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading refers to a business model, based on an interconnected platform, that serves as an online marketplace where consumers and producers “meet” to trade electricity directly without the need for an intermediary. A hierarchical software platform was proposed which was going to act as a link between the consumer and the prosumer for small scale Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). A P2P energy trading platform was developed using CSS, HTML, JavaScript and python. Through this platform, a consumer is able to choose which producer to buy electricity from and as well use the platform to complete the transaction either by mobile money or bank. This virtual platform when integrated to the physical layer network will be able to link both prosumers and consumers, complete transactions amongst themselves and elimination of intermediaries hence making peer-to-peer energy trading successful.en_US
