Design and analysis of an e-bicycle for urban transportation and mobility.
Abstract
In this report, we design and analyse an affordable e-bicycle to be adopted by daily urban commuters. With the scope being Kampala city, the project looks at mitigating pollution, hence reducing the air pollution related diseases like cancer. The report includes designing an optimal e-bike through efficient selection of material, mathematical analysis and use of computer aided design software with much focus on the e-bike’s transmission system. The current e-bikes imported from abroad are expensive to the locals and thus resort to use of internal combustion engines, bicycle cycling and walking. The conventional bicycle would be a good substitute for the problem but it involves continuous pedaling while draining energy from the user.
