The topic of the research study was "Factors that determine women's contribution to household welfare." a case study of Kawempe division. Stratified random sampling was used to select 84 working women randomly selected from four parishes from which data was collected through the interview method. Analysis was carried out using STATA software at the 5% level of significance and the Pearson's chi-square method found out that women's marital status, their age, access to credit and savings status are significant factors in determining women's contribution to household welfare whereas women's education is an insignificant factor. It was also revealed that food remains the item to which over 50% of their contribution goes. From those findings, the researcher recommended that government comes up with social programs such as cash transfers or food vouchers targeting households below the poverty line and with married, older women in them. In addition, commercial banks should relax some of the requirements such as collateral security specifically for women that wish to invest in their businesses in order to foster them.en_US
