A research report submitted to the College of Engineering Design and Art in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of a degree of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering of Makerere University.en_US
This project report contains information on the design and construction of an improved treadle that uses spring loaded valves and the pump as a flow rate of 1.83m/s with a total head of 5m. The project will contribute towards my academic qualifications and serves as a reference booklet for any interested individual in treadle pumps and for students undertaking bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at all levels since it involves all information necessary to produce the pump right from concept generation to tested results. It is written in simple understandable English language and basic engineering technical terms were used, necessary assumptions were made, standard formulae and basic principles of mechanical engineering were used during the major design of components of the machine prototype. This piece of project report contains five chapters and each chapter is well organized and easily followed.en_US
