Across the globe, engagement in early sexual relationships among adolescents is prohibited. However, available statistics suggest that sexual activity among adolescents is on the rise worldwide. The age of sexual debut varies from place to place and among different individuals. In Latin America, 12%-44% of girls had their sexual debut before the age of 16 years. In the US, girls engage in sexual relations as early as between 13-17 years (UNICEF, 2015). In Uganda, a study conducted by Renzaho, Kamara, Georgeou & Kamanga (2017) reported that 62% of the participants reported having ever had sex and the mean age of sexual debut was 16 years.en_US
