dc.description.abstractThe study mainly analyzed the association between employee engagement and employee motivation on the work performance of the lecturers at CoBAMS in Makerere University. The study employed cross-sectional research design where a sample of 50 lecturers were considered for the study. Data was collected through offering a self-administered questionnaire with lecturers which was well pretested and designed and data processing was done in SPSS. At a total sample of 50 lecturers at CoBAMS in Makerere University, the female and males had an equal percentage of 50% each, aged between 40-49 had a higher percentage of 50%, majority were protestants with a 36%. Most of the respondents were married with a 62% and the majority had attained a master’s degree (78%) as per education level. As of work performance, the majority strongly agreed to prepare to do work with determination (60%), 30% agreed to that they do not perform better when bosses are absent, and the majority (54%) strongly agreed to willingly offer more time to students. With regard to motivation, the majority strongly agreed to be motivated with a higher percentage of 46%. Foe employee engagement, the majority strongly agreed to have had all the material and equipment for use (68%), a higher majority of 46% strongly agreed to have effective communication, and the majority (52%) were satisfied with the job. Chi-square results at bivariate analysis revealed that lecturer’s motivation and employee engagement had a significant association with their work performance. This is because the lecturers who were highly motivated and engaged offered more quality service and this reflected their high level of performance. Binary logistic regression revealed that employee motivation and engaged influenced the work performance of lecturers were lecturers who were less engaged and less motivated were less likely to have a high level of performance. The study recommends that CoBAMS in Makerere University should endeavor to effectively motivate its lecturers because less is incurred to motivate an employee such as recognition among others and hence higher work performances are expected and this can be through of integration of motivation strategies in the university objectives.en_US
