A research report submitted to the department of Construction Economics and Management in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of a degree of Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying of Makerere University.en_US
In this study, the effect of recycled fine aggregate from the demolished hollow concrete block on the workability, density, and compressive strength of concrete was studied. A comparative analysis of the experimental results of fresh and hardened concrete properties with different replacement ratios of natural river sand by recycled fine aggregate was be performed. Concrete mixes containing 30 %, 50 %, and 100 % replacement of natural sand with the recycled fine aggregate were made and tested. The fourth mix has 0% replacement of natural sand and acted as the control experiment. 150mm Cubes of these mixes were made, cured and tested at 7, 14 and 21 days. The obtained results and the physical properties of the control and experimental mixes were compared and checked for the satisfaction of ASTM requirements.en_US
