The road network in Kampala Capital city continues to deteriorate often with uncoordinated interventions. This shows lack of a systematic process to plan, program, and implement road maintenance. These detoriorations are a result of heavy rainfall, excessively hot weather, and other seasonal effects along with natural calamities and human activities. They include thermal, longitudinal, and alligator cracks, potholes, edge break, bleeding, stripping, rutting, and others. Witnessing these deteriorations on most of the roads in Kampala reflects poor maintenance management because maintenance on these roads is knly practiced after the defects manifest. The study aims to assess the nature of road maintenance management techniques used by KCCA in comparison to standard practices. Relevant theories and studies regarding maintenance management techniques were used, questionnairesand interviews were formulated and distributed to the officials working in the different maintenance departments of KCCA. Analysis of the responses showed that at least 50% of the respondents agree hat standard practices of road maintenance techniques are being followed.en_US
