The purpose of the study was to investigate the impact of cost control techniques on the timely completion of construction projects and was done on a selection of 65 construction sites around the five divisions of Kampala. Previous studies focused on the causes of time and cost overruns and also the impact of cost control techniques on cost overruns. The study was done through the distribution of questionnaires online and also by interviewing the professionals at the site responsible for cost control and time management. The study identified the cost control techniques used on-site and the factors affecting the timely completion of construction projects. The cost control techniques were then assessed to find out if they could address the factors affecting the timely completion. It was found out that some cost control techniques to a greater extent to have a positive impact on timely completion since they were used to correct and prevent factors that affect the timely completion of construction projects from happening though such factors had to be falling under non-excusable delays and compensable delaysen_US
