The theme of child upbringing in Runyankore proverbs
Abstract
This study looks at how different family values are embedded in Runyankore Proverbs. Therefore, this section will give a brief basis of the study for example the background, definition of the key terms in the study, problem Statement, Research questions objectives, significance of the study. Meider (1985:119) has defined the proverb as "a short, generally known sentence of the folk which contains wisdom, truth, morals and traditional views in metaphorical, fixed and memorable form and which is handed down from generation to generation." Family values are sometimes referred to as familial values which are cultural that pertain to the family's structure, function, roles, beliefs, attitudes and ideas.
