dc.description.abstract | The Smart Walking Stick is a device that is intended to increase communication between the blind and the people that have the responsibility for taking care of them. The device was developed based on the requirements that were gathered by the team at Salama School for the Blind in Mukono District, Uganda.
The device was programmed using C++ and for the website, a number of web-based technologies were used including JavaScript, PHP, MySql, GoogleMaps API, etc. The output of the project is a prototype that can be later enhanced to make the device more usable and reliable.
The device includes a website that is used by the administrators to find out information concerning the different users wherever they are. The project underwent the full Software Development Life Cycle and its objective was successfully achieved. | en_US |
