Factors influencing infant mortality in Kampala District
Abstract
Globally, it is estimated that 5.6 million children under five died in 2016 (World Health Organization (2017). The top five countries which account for a large proportion of deaths are Angola, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Liberia and Niger (Census Bureau, International Data Base) Angola has the highest infant mortality rate of 180.2 per 1000 live births. It is indeed unfortunate that Africa contributes 25 percent of the total infant rate in the world (WHO 2017)
