In this study, focus was put on investigating the Causes of Poor Compliance to Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines on building construction sites in Kampala. This study was carried out based on the report by Department of Occupational Health and Safety, 2016 that showed low compliance to OSH guidelines represented at 30% and 45% for private companies and government companies respectively. With this compliance levels, I saw it of great importance to base my research to understand why there’s a poor response despite existing OSH guidelines. My study area was Kampala region it been the capital city of Uganda with more growing Administrative towns. The study focused on project managers, H&S officers and worker representatives in construction sites. The specific objectives of this study were to determine the level of consideration of OSH in site organization and planning practices, to assess the level of compliance to OSH guidelines in site supervision and management on construction sites in Kampala, to analyze the effectiveness of government of workers, project managers and safety officials in enforcing OSH laws and to analyze the findings from the construction industry stakeholders and hence generate the main causes of poor compliance to OSH guidelines. This study contains chapter one being the introduction defining comprehensively the project background, problem statement, projects justification, scope of study, main and specific objectives. Chapter two was the Literature review that defined comprehensively the major components contained in the topic and objectives supplemented by research done by different scholars to clearly understand the scope of the research topic. Chapter three was the research methodology which showed how data was obtained from the field followed by chapter four which contained data analysis and result discussions from the findings therefore enabled me to conclude with chapter five that contained conclusions and recommendations as a result observed from the study. This report also contained references from which some consultations were made and appendix that contained different pictures obtained from the field study.en_US
