A final year project report submitted to the department of Geomatics and Land Management in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of a degree Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying of Makerere University.en_US
This research presents a study of the production rates and materials requirements for wall and floor tiling done by masons and porters on building construction sites in and around Kampala and Wakiso describing the different tasks involved in tiling of the different constructed areas, the time taken to complete the wall and floor tiling works and analysis of materials volume used as well as the production rates of the crew members working on the different built areas. The study involved field observation and time studies for a period of about five weeks generating different production rates for wall and floor areas for different crew configurations. Probability distributions are then applied to the materials volumes and production rates for crew members and appropriate conclusions drawn.en_US
