This is a study of the impacts of integrating ICT in the teaching and learning at higher institutions of education. It investigated the positive and negative impacts as perceived in relation to both the students and the teachers and how ICT has been integrated in the educational process. The study was done in the published articles from the libraries and internet data bases using search engines like Google scholar and edge and with critical and exclusive analysis of the data following special criteria a data base of this research study was created. The findings revealed that there many impacts of ICT in education system both positive and negative as evidenced by the many articles published across the world. This triggered us to label the ICT integration as a ‘necessary evil’ meaning that ICT has very many negative impacts ‘the evil’ but because it has several advantages that can’t be dealt away with by another alternative thus it becomes the ‘necessary evil’ On the other side ICT integration had its own challenges that were a steep slope for its perfect integration in to the education system where it limits the projects and maximum exploitation. Furthermore it requires more control to minimize the evil that comes with the ICT. And from the different articles we managed to come up with the different solutions to address the evil of ICT.en_US
