dc.description.abstractThe study focused "The factors influencing job design at a manufacturing firm. The purpose of the study was to establish the factors influencing job design in Roofings Uganda Limited, Industrial Area Branch, 6th street in Kampala, Uganda. It was guided by three objectives which included: to identify the effective techniques or methods of job design, to evaluate the relationship between job design and influencing factors, to gauge the benefits of job design and how job design led to employee satisfaction. The methods of research design used were qualitative and quantitative where the researcher had to compute figures. The researcher found out that the factors influencing job design were indeed great in that, a well-designed job relating to employees' characteristics and abilities led to high satisfaction and high performance in return. However, the researcher discovered that employee's level of satisfaction varies from individual to individual. The researcher recommends that policy makers especially human resources to design jobs in that yield satisfaction to employees, and suggested areas for further research like aspects of one's life external to the job, benefits and effects of job design to the employees' and the organization, relation between satisfaction and productivity and how job satisfaction benefits/affects the organization of Roofings Uganda Limited, Industrial Area Branch, 6th street, Kampala-Uganda as a whole.en_US
