dc.description.abstractThe main objective of the study was to examine the influence of unemployment on standards of living among youth in Kapchorwa district, Uganda. The specific objectives included technological unemployment, frictional unemployment and voluntary unemployment which influences standards of living among youth in Kapchorwa district, Uganda. The study used primary data collected from Kapchorwa district after sampling the target population. Cross sectional study design was used for both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection. Quantitative methods where applied through reviews of published articles to attain greater knowledge and understanding of the topic. Qualitative methods enabled the researcher to obtain the data collected in time and a sample was taken from the youth of Kapchorwa district. The data was analyzed and managed by the use of a STATA and SPSS software package. The data was presented in percentages and this made it easy for comparison of influence of youth unemployment on standards of living among youths between 15 to 29 years that have not worked for more than an hour in a short reference period and are actively looking for work in Kapchorwa district. The study employed three levels of analysis that’s univariate analysis, bivariate analysis and multivariate analysis and Findings indicated that youths in Kapchorwa do not have experience in the available jobs, they do not know where to find the jobs, they do not have appropriate qualifications and skills, youth in Kapchorwa are not unemployed due to unserious job offers, youth in Kapchorwa have a negative attitude towards work, youth in Kapchorwa have a bad reputation amongst the employers and hence the recommendation that enough emphasize should be put on developing skills, development of the education system and employment of youths on integrating them into the economic life of the country.en_US
