Design and fabrication of a portable motorized hoe final year project report.
Abstract
The portable motorized hoe is a mechanized agricultural implement popularly used to save time,
human efforts and fuel in preparation of soil bed. In this report presents the design and fabrication
of a portable motorized hoe which is maintenance free and effective. However, under complex
abrasive environment, the cutting blades are subjected to extreme surface wear, particularly in dry
sand which considerably affects its service life. Working of transmission system is based on the
pulley mechanism which is cost efficient. The portable motorized hoe comprises of two elongated
mild steel in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the hoeing unit or cutting blades, to
provide, with reference to the working position by the operator, in the part closest there are the
maneuvering handles. In the intermediate part is a small petrol engine on the support seats which
is the source of power of the portable motorized hoe. The farthest part of the portable motorized
hoe is the hoeing unit containing the cutting blades which are linkage-connected to the shaft. The
power from the small petrol engine is transmitted to the cutting blades through two sets of pulleys
with a flat belt to the shaft containing the cutting blades and thereby rotating the cutting blades.
