dc.description.abstract | We have developed a Real time Car Wheel diagnostics system which accurately measures a car’s
wheel alignment, temperature of tires and wheel balancing. This project aims at building a smart
system that will monitor vehicle wheels in real time warning the user of the need for a service
check or fix of wheels.
With project timeline and available resources, we have been successful at the following;
Monitoring car wheel alignment using Toe angle, Monitoring car wheel temperature (Heat),
Monitoring car wheel balancing and set a user authentication password. Designed and
implemented an instrumentation circuitry for measuring wheel alignment, wheel balancing and
tire temperature.
Used a tilt Position sensor placed on the wheel to measure the Toe angle, vibration sensor placed
on steering rank to monitor vibrations coming from the different wheels. This sensor sends
through Data logs to a mobile phone and it interprets if the wheels are balanced or not. Used a
heat sensor placed on the rim to monitor tire temperature from brakes in case of overheating.
Developed a model for prediction of wheel misalignment, unbalanced wheels and overheated
tires.
Developed a phone-based UI/notification engine to display warning for wheel misalignment,
wheel unbalancing and overheated tires.
At the end we have been able to obtained an accurate measuring system from the circuitry and
warnings displayed on a smart phone. | en_US |
