Currently and in the recent years, COVID-19 has claimed many lives and disrupted many activities in Uganda. Some of the affected institutions that have been broadly affected are schools. This project is about designing a COVID-19 health check app for students. The available COVID-19 tests are very expensive and the preventive measures/precautions are not taken with caution. People/students have found it hard to consult doctors physically from hospitals during the COVID period. These fear contracting COVID-19 from hospitals. The main objective of this research is to design a mobile covid-19 health check app for students. In this project, I used Visual Studio Code which is a streamlined code editor with support for development operations like debugging, task running, and version control. I developed the app frontend using programming languages like JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and the backend using PHP and MySQL. I used XAMPP server that has MySQL database. The user creates an account with “COVID self-test” and details like phone number, address, username, and email are stored in the database. After signing up, the user responds to questions asked in the app and will receive a feedback via the app and the shared email. Users are able to consult medical doctors online and get medical assistance using ‘tawk-to’ chat widget embedded in the app. The doctors are able to respond to users from their ‘tawk-to’ accounts. I have developed this Android Application and published it in real time, using Visual Studio Code, XAMPP web services (apache) and hosted it online. The app was successfully developed with its different features and sections using appropriate software and programming languages. The app is able to run and execute user’s requests. Users can easily consult medical doctors at any time of convenience. Doctors can also reply to users and also share some medical information amongst themselves.en_US
