dc.description.abstract | In this study, we will look at the study of irony in Ateso folktales. In here we will focus on generating meaning from Ateso folktales. Irony has got different forms which include; verbal irony, situational irony, dramatic irony. Looking at what is documented in this study, most information was gotten through interviewing of different people and later analysis was done. Ateso folktales employ other forms such as symbolism, imagery, personification etc. but of all these, we realize that it is actually irony that brings key meaning in Ateso folktales. Irony gives a deeper meaning to something. Irony helps protect one's image or reputation by covering some way bad things that one does. Irony helps expose wrong things in a very unfamiliar way. So we will look at how irony is going to build meaning in this study. | en_US |
