dc.description.abstractThis study examines the way Ankole proverbs sustain gender stereotypes including; gender roles, gender relations (family, power and marriage) . In particular, the study looks at how men and women’s roles are portrayed in society. It also seeks to create awareness about gender imbalances in Ankole society where male chauvinism has been elevated at the expense of women. The proverbs portray a social, economic , political and ideological situation which reflect gender relationship existence in society.en_US
