The objective of this project was to build a mental health mobile application to aid in
curbing mental health challenges causedby stress, anxiety, panic, worry and stigma towards
mental health talk among Ugandans through enhancing self-awareness, controlling moods,
maintaining good habits and breaking bad ones.
In order to build a viable product, a study was carried out aided by a number of research
questionswith aim tocurb many of these mental health challenges and to create ideas tobe
put in place to fight poor mental fitness amongst Ugandans.
The significance of this study was and is to help both computing, medical students,and
psychiatric researchers get hands-on skills and experience in mental health, to come up with
a system tohelp track mood patterns, stress levels and data regarding mental health of users
and hence find solutions to these social problems while positively affecting how users feel,
think and act.
A number of research methods and tools were used to aid the research including design and
sampling methods, data collection methods and analysis to answer our research questions
that aided in building the mobile application.
In conclusion, a userfriendly mental health companion tracker app was built for Ugandans
to have aneasier and quicker reach for mental health assistance at their comfort and be rest
assured of confidentiality to the highest level with effective and efficient progress which
should be a great weapon of psychological development and to Uganda’s mentalhealth
sector.
