A maternal death is defined as the death of a woman while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, from any cause except accidents or violence. This study used secondary data among women in Uganda extracted from UDHS, 2016. Data was analyzed using StataSE-15 (64bit) and analysis was done at two levels. For bivariate analysis, I looked at the association between the background characters and maternal mortality which was the dependent variable. The statistical significance and insignificance were found for every independent variable to the dependent variable. There was a significant association between mothers’ age and maternal mortality with a p-value of 0.000. The rest of the independent factors had no significant association i.e. wealth index, smoking tobacco, education level, mothers’ high blood pressure during pregnancy.en_US
