A research study on the effect of school water storage tanks on the quality of water, in Kampala
Abstract
On a daily basis, many individuals in middle- and low-income nations die from waterborne infections. The usage of water storage facilities as a form of indirect water supply has risen throughout the world. This is due to the fact that a steady supply from the water mains is not guaranteed, especially in developing nations, but water storage facilities can be a reliable source of water during times of high demand or scarcity. The results of the investigation showed a substantial correlation between pH parameter, cleaning frequency and water quality. In water storage tanks that had never been cleaned, significant E. coli and total coliform concentrations were found. The water quality was also found to be impacted by other variables, such as the storage tank lid.The investigation also identified E. coli in the water input, raising an intriguing new research question has to be answered in order to determine whether contamination happens within the distribution system
