dc.description.abstractThis research was designed to examine the effects of stress on university students. The objective of this study was to examine the effects of stress on university students. To achieve this objective, a research question was tested and the literature review was mainly focused on the effects of stress on university students. The instrument of data collection was a group focus discussion guide while purposive sampling method was adopted for the study. Data collected and analyzed was driven from the research question. A sample size of 10 students from a population of 50 was used. This research study explored some of the various effects of stress on university students namely the mood changes, the poor academic performance, unstable mental health and increased use of alcohol and drugs. The study was qualitative by nature to gain in-depth understanding of the experiences of the students. This was done through one on one online interview with 10 university students from college of social sciences and school of psychology. This was done to gain variety and a broad understanding of the issue.en_US
