The objective of the study was to examine the coping strategies adopted by students with disabilities to cope up with online learning during COVID 19 pandemic at Makerere University. The mixed methods approach used 60 questionnaires for students with disabilities basing on different categories and 3 in-depth interview guides for the key informants (lecturers, administrators, students’ leaders) among others to explore challenges, strategies and effectiveness of online learning at Makerere University. Students with disabilities encountered very many challenges following the shift from physical learning to online learning for example poor network, limited physical interactions with their lecturers among others. Accessing online learning came as a result of outbreak of COVID 19 and lock down as a means of reducing its spread. Despite the challenges brought by COVID 19, Makerere University laid out different strategies for example use of muele, zoom, Google meet and electronic mails such that studies can keep on moving as usual. Students with disabilities need a number of improved strategies to access online learning such as adequate training on the use of electronic gadgets, improving university WIFI connections, recruiting more trainers in the computer laboratory in the main library to help the stude3nts with disabilities on how to use online learning. This should be put on place so as to promote good conducive online learning environment for students with disabilities and this will help them not to be left out.en_US
