Imagine locking and unlocking your door just by a voice command not just for convenience but also security, where you as a user wont fail to access the door just because your key has got lost or broken or even thieves intruding into your house just because they can duplicate the key. These challenges and the ones listed below have inspired us to propose the use of voice operated door locks. People in wheel chairs, on crutches and the blind have usually found it hard to not only reach out to but also lock and unlock their doors. This challenge can be rectified by use of a voice operated door lock. According to The Uganda Bureau of Statistics Census Report (UBOS 2016), it indicated that 12.4% of the Ugandan population lives with some form of disability implying that approximately 4.5 million Ugandans are persons with disability hence a development concern. However much Smart door locks seem a relatively safer or more secure access control system i.e. finger print scanning, facial recognition, and iris, password, combinations etc., they are also susceptible to hacking ticks like permutations and duplication of biometric details (3D printing). However, according to the research and the 2016 hacker convention (Called DEF CON), the voice operated door lock was considered to be a relatively secure access control system compared to the rest of the other systems.en_US
